Violet Grohl Working on Debut Album with Star Producer

Having dazzled audiences with her live performances alongside Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet is now focused on her own musical path.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 18-year-old is currently working on her debut record, with acclaimed producer Justin Raisen (known for collaborations with Kim Gordon, Charli XCX, and Yves Tumor) involved in the project.

A source close to the production described Violet as “incredibly committed” and a “true torch singer,” adding: “Her vocals are tremendous. She’s very talented.”

Violet’s representatives have previously stated that her music draws inspiration from ’60s and ’70s singer-songwriters and the riot grrrl movement of the ’90s, signaling a blend of timeless and rebellious influences.

In a 2017 interview with Kerrang!, Dave Grohl reflected on his children’s exposure to music: “They know how unglamorous it is, but they also know how incredibly rewarding it can be.” While he expressed no intention of steering them toward music, he noted, “They’ve got it in them already—it’s just a matter of deciding if they actually want to do it.”

By 2021, Dave was singing his daughter’s praises, marveling at her perfect pitch and raw vocal talent. “To be her drummer is one of my life dreams,” he said.

Violet’s debut is shaping up to be a deeply personal and anticipated milestone in her artistic journey.
