Sabrina Carpenter Reflects on Long Journey to Grammy Glory

Sabrina Carpenter’s path to becoming a Grammy-nominated pop sensation has been a decade in the making, but the singer insists the journey has been worthwhile.

In a new interview with People published Wednesday (Jan. 8), the 25-year-old opened up about the slow climb that led to her first Grammy nod for Best New Artist. “I’ve always been true to myself and believed in my work since I was young,” Carpenter shared.

“It’s always been about the small baby steps you take over time to get you to this point,” the “Taste” singer explained. “I don’t think I have fully reflected yet, as I’m also trying to be present in the moment.”

Six Grammy Nominations in 2025

Despite having six albums under her belt since 2015, Carpenter has now scored six Grammy nominations for the 2025 ceremony, including:

  • Best New Artist
  • Song of the Year for Please Please Please
  • Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for Espresso
  • Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet

Carpenter expressed her disbelief at the Best New Artist nod in a November Instagram post, joking, “I’m the best old artist. S—t, I’ve been here.”

Dreams Come True

Reflecting on the nominations, Carpenter added, “I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t dreamt about this day my whole life. So I am filled with gratitude.”

The former Girl Meets World star also emphasized the importance of connection in her music:

“I’m just happy to see my songs connect with so many people from all walks of life. That’s why I love to write songs.”

Carpenter’s journey from Disney alum to chart-topping pop star has certainly been a testament to patience and persistence—and she’s finally getting her moment to shine.
