Jane’s Addiction Members Tease New Music Without Perry Farrell

Jane’s Addiction’s tumultuous 2024 may be leading to a new chapter—this time without frontman Perry Farrell.

New Music in the Works?

Eric Avery, the band’s bassist, sparked speculation with an Instagram post tagging guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins. The post hinted at fresh material:

“Writing some more new lines to some of Stephen’s drumming. Look forward to getting some Mr Navarro on them. 2025!”

Perkins reshared the post, adding fuel to the rumors of a possible project involving the three musicians. Whether this points to new Jane’s Addiction music or a revival of Navarro and Avery’s 1993 band Deconstruction remains unclear.

A Rocky 2024 for Jane’s Addiction

The band’s reunion with its original lineup—Farrell, Navarro, Avery, and Perkins—initially thrilled fans, especially after the release of Imminent Redemption, their first new song together in 34 years. However, their comeback was overshadowed by controversy when Farrell punched Navarro during a Boston show in September, prompting the cancellation of the tour. The hiatus was attributed to Farrell’s “mental health difficulties.”

Summer 2024 Success Amid Chaos

Despite the turmoil, Jane’s Addiction impressed fans during their London Roundhouse show last summer. NME praised the performance in a four-star review:

“Jane’s use the set to showcase new material… ‘Imminent Redemption’ became a tribal-inspired belter soon destined to be a live classic.”

The review highlighted an extended, nearly 15-minute version of Three Days and the fiery finale Stop! that proved the band’s enduring power:

“Nearly four decades after forming, they’re still a force to be reckoned with.”

What’s Next?

While there’s no official word from the band, fans are eagerly awaiting more details. Could Navarro, Perkins, and Avery be working on a new Jane’s Addiction project—or something entirely different?
