Sabrina Carpenter brought festive cheer to Netflix with her holiday special, A Nonsense Christmas, which premiered December 6. Among the standout moments was a cozy duet of Wham!’s “Last Christmas” with Chappell Roan. The two performed karaoke-style in a playful post-party setting, with Carpenter in a velvety green dress and Roan in a winter coat. The nostalgic cover added to the show’s lively holiday spirit.
The special, blending musical performances and comedy, featured an array of guest stars, including Tyla for “This Christmas,” Shania Twain for “Santa Baby,” and Kali Uchis for “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” Carpenter also showcased tracks from her 2023 seasonal EP, Fruitcake, alongside a flirty holiday remix of her hit “Nonsense.” With lyrics like “Think I only want you under my mistletoe,” the remix added a cheeky twist to the festivities.
“The holidays have always been so special to me,” Carpenter shared before the release. “I’m excited to bring my take to a classic holiday variety show — infusing my love of music and comedy to make something that is uniquely me.”
Last Christmas, originally released by Wham! in 1984, has remained a holiday classic, even hitting No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023. Carpenter’s A Nonsense Christmas is the latest in a string of creative ventures that continue to showcase her dynamic range as a performer.
